Delaware City - Cape May NJ - Island Heights NJ

Image
May 30 It has been a few days since we have written about the trip.  Time sure flies when having a BLAST!  Delaware City We arrived in Delaware City to a beautiful day.  The dock there is about 100 yards long and as luck would have it, we were all the way at the end.  This was fine for everything except Yudee.  He had to pee on everything he passed over those 100 yards every time.  This included everyone's electric, water and ropes.   had to do a lot of cleaning. Delaware City is a beautiful town with the city planners clearly working to attract business.  Most of the businesses seemed to be weekend focused and were closed but the town had multiple parks and green spaces that were beautiful.   For dinner we went to the only place open, Kathy's.  Everyone was boasting about the crab stuffed flounder and jumbo steamed shrimp.  Many said it was the best they had eaten on the their trip.  We were excited.  We sat and got the menus.  Everything looked as good and everyone said.  We

Annapolis to Havre De Grace to Delaware City

May 24th It occurred to me that many people will struggle with orienting themselves to some of the locations we are at.  From here forward I will include elements from our Nebo log showing our route and some stats. We pulled out of Annapolis yesterday AM.  The visit would not be complete without a trip down EGO ALLY.  I simply had to do it.  For those that don't know, it is a small waterway that dives into the heart of Annapolis.  Everyone motors down it, turns around and motors out just to show off their boat. The previous days we went down this area to get to town in the dinghy with Yudee on the bow.  If we had a dollar for everyone who took his picture we could cover our gas for the trip!  He was quite the attraction. We departed immediately after Ego Ally and traveled from Annapolis Md to Havre De Grace Md.  The trip up the bay was perfectly calm and smooth.  Great cruising.  Perhaps the most impressive view on the bay is from under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.  Totally cool. St. Michaels to Annapolis

May 21 St Michael's finished with a blast.  We stumbled across a restaurant named "Foxy's" and given Terri's maiden name we just had to eat there.  Turned out to be a great bar with fantastic food.  The Crabby Pretzel was outstanding.   While there, we ran into Mel Benhoff's brother Bo.  I just had to buy him a drink (his birthday was just  a few days before). From there we did the touristy thing and enjoyed the Maritime Museum seeing at all the boats of both my childhood and Chesapeake lore.  Way Cool!  Here are some random pics:                                   One item that is worth a shout out is the Punt Gun.  This is essentially a hand held cannon used to duck hunt.  This gun was known to take down 10s of ducks in a single shot.  Eventually they were outlawed.  You had to be a real man (or real stupid) to be behind the trigger of one of these. In the evening, another looping couple we met during the day invited us to join them for dinner.  Gina's

We Launched

May 19, 2023 WE DID IT!!!! Yes, we finally embarked on the great loop.  In the effort to do something truly extraordinary, different and or unique ... you learn a lot.  Some of my big take-a-ways so far: Life constantly pulls you in directions other than what is intended.  At every turn there is something to distract or discourage you from you goal.  This can be health, financial, family or situational ... there is always something to overcome. But the big take-a-way was stay focused, persevere and stay positive.  You can make it happen. People are wonderful!  For the last 3+ years our friends, neighbors and family have encouraged us, picked us up, pushed us sometimes and most of all supported our goals.  Multiple came down to the dock to see us off (Catherine, Susan and Gene ... we love you). We wouldn't have gotten here without you.  People make this world and the world is a great place.  Thank you everyone. Bill and Regina McCrorie are AMAZING because they do similar extraordin
